The decorative element on these products has been inspired by the wreath worm by the Neoplatonist philosopher Ploutarhos. His portrait (Acr. 1313) can be found in the Gallery “From the Fifth cent. BC to late Antiquity”on the first floor of the Acropolis Museum and is dated to the early 5th century AD.

Bronze cock figurine

Inspired by a bronze cock figurine, an offering to the Sanctuary of the Acropolis. This exhibit (showcase 20, no. 17) can be found in the Archaic Acropolis Gallery on the first floor of the Acropolis Museum  and is dated to the end of 6th cent. BC.

Ceramic horse figurine

Inspired by a bronze horse figurine attached to the handle of a vessel. This exhibit (showcase 13, no. 3) can be found in the Archaic Acropolis Gallery on the first floor of the Acropolis Museum and is dated between 750 - 700 BC.







Ceramic phiale

Reproduction of a libation bowl (“phiale mesomphalos”) from the Sanctuary of the Nymphe, depicting riders. Vases of this type were used principally for making libations (liquid offerings) to the gods and less frequently for drinking. The Acropolis Museum phiale is decorated with the “Six’s technique”, in which the figures are depicted with white or brown color on the black background of the black-glazed vase. This exhibit (Case 6, no. 130) can be found in the Gallery of the Acropolis Slopes on the ground floor of the Acropolis Museum  and is dated to the end of 6th century BC.
