Official state body in Ancient Athens with administrative, supervisory and judicial power. It was formed by 500 elected by lot members, 50 from each tribe, who served annually. The main responsibility of the Athenian Council was to draft the deliberations, the resolutions that were going to be voted by the Citizens Assembly. Moreover is collaborated, guided and supervised all public workers. The Council met daily in the Bouleuterion in the Agora.
