Ottoman Archives about the Acropolis

Tuesday, 19 February, 2019

In the context of its ongoing research about the adventures of the Parthenon sculptures, the Acropolis Museum organizes a presentation by two experienced scholars of the Ottoman Archives; Professor Zeynep Aygen and historian Orhan Sakin. The two scientists will talk in the Museum’s ground floor auditorium on Tuesday 19 February 2019, at 12 noon, and they will elaborate on their research in the Ottoman Archives of Constantinople, from which emerges highly interesting information about life on the Acropolis at the beginning of the 19th century. They will also refer to documents, originals and copies, regarding Lord Elgin and the Ottoman Empire.

The presentation is free to the public and will be held in English.
