One of the Giants, the horrifying children of Gaia (earth) and Ouranos (sky). During the battle of the Giants with the gods, Athos through a rock against the gods. The rock fell near the tip of Chalkidiki and formed the peninsula and the mountain both of which were was named Athos after the Giant.
