Olympian god, son of Zeus and Semele. He was the god of wine, drinking, ecstatic dance and theatre. His followers were the Satyrs, the Silenoi, the Nymphs and the Maenads. His symbols were the thyrsos, the kantharos, the ivy, the vine, the panther, the theatrical masks and the phallus.
