Flake from a blade made from obsidian. It was found in 2007 during the Makrygiannis plot excavation, in the wider area of the kilns ΝΜΑ 24 and ΝΜΑ 25.

Obsidian was a hard volcanic rock with black colour, used mainly during the Neolithic period, but also during the Bronze Age to make sharp weapons and tools, such as blades, arrow heads, sicles, saws and knifes. These objects were formed by first striking the obsidian to remove thin flakes and then processing these flakes appropriately so they would be shaped into weapons or tools.
