The "Polos Kore"

Up to 2020, only the emblematic head from the fragmentary preserved sculpture of the so-called “Polos Kore” (Aκρ. 696) was exhibited in the Archaic Acropolis Gallery. The idea of restoring it started when during conservation treatment, two new fragments were attributed to the sculpture. After a long study, a modular system was designed to hold the fragments in their right position, suspended in air without complements between them. The fragments were anchored to the mounting system with reversible stainless-steel implants. The interventions included detachments and re-attachments of fragments, surface cleaning with laser technology, study for polychromy and 3D scanning.
