Ancient sculpture: Shaping stone into art

How did the ancient sculptors chisel stone? How did they transfer the material from the quarry? What types of materials did they prefer? How sophisticated were their tools and how did they bring their creations to life? The sculptures of the Acropolis Museum are hiding many secrets of the ancient sculpting and the students are to discover them with the help of the archaeologists of the Museum and numerous visual means. The introduction to the world of sculpture continues at the educational center with enjoyable activities and hands-on learning experiences.

The program is designed and implemented by the Educational Programs Department of the Acropolis Museum.
