Attic Festivals: Celebrate Like an Ancient Athenian

Available only in Greek.

Music competitions, theatrical battles, athletic competitions, dancing, food, wine and gifts to the gods — the ancient Athenians knew how to celebrate in style! In this educational program, the students tour the exhibition galleries with the archaeologists of the Museum and through selected exhibits they discover -in an interactive way- the religious, cultural, social and militant aspects of Attic festivals and explore their significance in antiquity. Then they take on an active role as organizers of an imaginary divine celebration and using as tools cooperation, humor and creative expression, they bring the past to life through their own eyes, bridging yesterday to today. Who will organize the most fun party?

The program is designed and implemented by the Educational Programs Department of the Acropolis Museum.
