Sound-stories for strange divine births

The wisest of all goddesses was born from the head of her father! The strongest of all heroes, while infant, strangled two gigantic snakes! Ancient Greek myths are so strange but at the same time so fascinating!

The Museum invites children and their attendants to take part in an interactive festive program for divine births; to express themselves through music and to create an audio background to frame the stories.

The program is carried out by the Acropolis Museum in collaboration with the musician/music-educator Chara Asimina for participation in the intergenerational seminar “Across Generations” organized by the Goethe- Institute Athens.

  • Ages: For children 4-11 years old
  • Days & hours: Wednesday 29/12 & Thursday 30/12, 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. (in Greek only).
  • Registration: Refer to the Information Desk on the same day. Limited to 30 visitors per program. First-in first-served.
  • Cost: Free participation for children & 5€ for parents/escorts.

Christmas carols and  festive season gifts

Combine your visit at the Museum with a coffee or desert at the restaurant with panoramic views of the Acropolis and Christmas carols. On Sunday 19 December, at 12 noon, enjoy the famous Wind Orchestra of the Ilion Music School and on Thursday 23 December, same time, Christmas carols from the Rethymno Vrakoforon Group of Crete.

Before leaving the Museum don’t forget to pass by the Shop, where you will find beautiful decorative objects, and Christmas gift ideas. This year’s lucky charm is ideal for a gift to your loved one, inspired by the pomegranate that Kore 593 is holding as an offering to goddess Athena, a symbol of fertility, abundance, prosperity and good luck.
