The Museum participates for the first time in the international Piano City Athens festival with a piano recital by Manos Kitsikopoulos on the balcony of the second floor, overlooking the Archaic Gallery.
The music event will take place on Monday, May 18 at 11 a.m., 12 noon, and 1 p.m. Duration of each recital: 30 minutes.
On the same day, the Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with free admission to all exhibition spaces as part of International Museum Day.
Manos Kitsikopoulos is a versatile pianist with a foundation in classical music and strong artistic flexibility across different musical genres. He has been awarded the DipRAM distinction and a prize from the Academy of Athens, and he also won the Grand Prix first prize at the international Clamo competition in Spain. He collaborates with orchestras such as the Janáček Philharmonic and the Athens State Orchestra, and teaches at the Athens Conservatoire and at the Sorbas Summer Academy in Andalusia.
For the Acropolis Museum, the multifaceted pianist has selected a program featuring favorite works and his own arrangements for solo piano. Visitors to the Museum will have the opportunity to hear beloved tango pieces by Piazzolla, nocturnes by Chopin, miniatures by Satie, and songs by other well-known composers, as they move through the first and second floors of the Museum.
