On the occasion of World Poetry Day on Saturday 21 March 2026, the Acropolis Museum invites visitors to its courtyard to attend a marathon listening session of Homer's epic Odyssey organized by the THIRD PROGRAM of ERT broadcaster.
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., students of Classical Philology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens will recite fourteen selected rhapsodies Homer's Odyssey under the philological supervision of Associate Professor of Ancient Greek Philology Vasilis P. Vertoudakis. Part of the first rhapsody will be recited by the General Director of the Acropolis Museum, Professor Nikolaos Chr. Stampolidis.
In the shadow of the Sacred Rock, the adventure of the human spirit and the timeless longing for homeland and self-knowledge will be revived through the Doric and musical translation of D. N. Maronitis.
Entrance to the Museum courtyard will be free and the event will be live broadcasted on the radio of the THIRD PROGRAM of ERT and online through the digital platform of Ertecho.
