The Acropolis Museum now offers an innovative free digital guide, developed in collaboration with SMARTIFY, providing visitors with a rich and interactive experience using their personal smartphones.

In December 2024, a pilot version of the app was launched at the newly established Excavation Museum, where visitors could access it via QR code and scan objects using their phone cameras. Thanks to advanced object recognition technology, they could instantly receive detailed information and images of the exhibits in both Greek and English, with automatic translation. The app already featured an audio guide for 60 of the Museum’s most iconic artifacts, available in Greek and English.

Since May 2025, the application has been upgraded and enriched, significantly enhancing the user experience. It now includes two new free audio tours in Greek and English:

• A short tour featuring 30 selected exhibits (approx. 1 hour)
• A family tour in the form of a treasure hunt (approx. 1 and a half hour)

Object recognition now covers all the collections of the Acropolis Museum, except for the Archaic Acropolis Gallery, offering rich content and imagery.

Additionally, the application provides automatic content translations in 29 languages, with options for either written text or voice output using artificial intelligence.

By embracing cutting-edge technology, the Acropolis Museum now offers universal access to its collections, meeting the needs of a truly global audience and setting new standards among modern museums.
