Girl from a prominent family between the age of seven and eleven years old, who resided for one year on the Acropolis serving Athena Polias. The Arrhephoroi were two or, according to another suggestion, four. They took part in various ceremonies, like setting up the warp on the loom for weaving goddess Athena's Panathenaic peplos and carrying the secret sacred objects of the goddess down from the Acropolis during the festival of Arrhephoria.
