Epithet of the goddess Athena the origin of which is disputed. It is considered to signify either the person who "brandishes a weapon" or a young girl. It is also thought that it may relate to the Giant Pallas, who was killed by Athena during the Gigantomachy, while others link it with Pallas, the first friend of Athena, who was killed accidentally by the goddess.
