Statue type of Octavianus Augustus portrayed as a military victor making a public speech. It is one of the most popular representations of the first Roman emperor and one of the finest examples of imperial propaganda. The original was most probably commissioned by his adopted son Tiverius in AD 15 and was found in Villa Libya, the mansion of the emperor's wife, in the suburb of Prima Porta in Rome.
