A monstrous three-headed watchdog with snakes growing from his back and a lion’s tail which ended in a snake's head. It was born from the union of two other monsters, Typhoon and Echidna, and guraded Hades, the Underworld, devouring anyone who would try and leave that dark place. Herakles, by accomplising his twelfth task, captured Cerberus and brought him to Eurystheus who was so frightened at the dog's sight that he had it sent back to Hades.
