Underground bottle-shaped cistern for the storage of rain-water. It was discovered in 1956, in the excavation "South of the Acropolis", to the southeast of the Odeion of Herodes Atticus. It remained in use from the second half of the 2nd cent. BC to the beginning of the 1st cent. BC and probably belonged to a private residence. Its interior was sealed with hydraulic plaster and small depressions in the walls were used as steps to facilitate its cleaning and maintenance.
