Son of Automedusa and Iphikles. He was Herakles' nephew, charioteer and loyal companion. Iolaus won the chariot race during the first Olympic Games that were founded by his uncle. According to Pausanias, Sardinia was colonised by Iolaus, the Athenians and Herakles' descendants, the Herakleids.
