Long-bodied vase with rounded bottom, narrow neck and very small mouth opening on its top, which makes it suitable for transporting or holding perfume oils. Alabastra were produced in a variety of materials, such as clay, glass and alabaster. The term 'alabastron' is also used for some small vessels dated to the Prehistoric period that may have had the same function as later examples.
